WHAT IS THIS, ANYWAY?
So glad you asked! VINYASF (made-up word blending Vinyasa + SF) is a movement created by two friends who wanted to add something light, fun, and a little different to the SF yoga scene. They needed an outlet to share a style of yoga they love (Baptiste Yoga), while spreading joy and connecting cool people. So, they started Yoga In A Bar, which is exactly what it sounds like: a yoga class in a bar. It's for people who like to take care of their bodies and minds and also--on occasion--to get a casual drink with friends. It's called balance.
What's Baptiste Yoga?
Started by Baron Baptiste (a native SF-er), Baptiste Yoga is an athletic style of yoga that not only strengthens and stretches the entire body, but also empowers people with the tools to create really big lives, on and off the mat. The best part is: Anybody can do it! The practice always adaptable, and always feels good.
who are the teachers?
Jess and Tara. They met through the Baptiste Yoga community. Bummed there wasn't any Baptiste Yoga in SF at the time, they--with the help of their "fairy godmother," Jocelyn--started teaching what they love in bars. They both teach and assist the class. And won't mind if you buy them a drink after.
So is this, like, drunk yoga?
Haha, no. I mean, we don't judge you if you do that. In our events, the class just happens to take place in a bar. Any social drinking--if you choose to partake--is done after the class. Our experience is the light-heartedness creates deeper joy, community, and connection. We don't promote alcohol abuse. We do, however, promote fun.
